Visualcost enables you to do real Job-costing - easily. Visualcost has taken accounting and cost accounting a few very important steps further than general accounting packages do.
Visualcost does not bother you with tedious double entries, a system which was introduced way back by the Romans who had no computers. Visualcost uses the inherent power of modern computers to do most of the work.
Visualcost does not try to use the General Ledger to do Job-costing. The GL looses its clarity when used for things other than financial reporting and auditing.

Customers
(clients) data base
Any program of Visualcost can store a Customer base of any size.
You can record repeated correspondence sent to Customers by dates
and generate individual correspondence reference numbers to keep
track of your correspondence.
Quotations
You can create quotations quickly and easily, keeping clear record
of your quotations.
Pick a customer from your data base or enter the name of a new
customer quickly. You are not slowed down with tedious setup.
Quotation numbers are generated automatically, but you can overtype
them. Duplicate numbers are not accepted however.
A quotation can include all cost items that you think you must allow for the job, but you don't have to reveal them to your customer. This is achieved through using Freehand Quotations in VCS5.
Assigning
Employees, Teams to Job Items
Right after recording Items of a Job you can assign employees,
teams and plant to each of them, i.e. you can schedule your resources
by date and time.
A graphic display shows you who and what you have scheduled already.
Subsequently, you can click the Actual time button and record
the Actual time spent.
a. This input will automatically be transferred to the Cost summaries
in order to show you the actual costs of your Jobs and Job items.
You need to know this if you want to reduce guess work in your
allowances.
b. This input is used to calculate total time of employees, teams
and plant.
Assigning
Subcontractors to Job Items
You can tag one or several Job items, select a Subcontractor from
your database and quickly create a Purchase order, also stipulating
when you want the work to be completed. Then you can fax it.
You can process invoices (progress claims) from Subcontractors
quickly by entering the quantities of work done next to the ordered
quantities.
