In the TurboCASH 3.71 or later versions, the Convert from an older TurboCASH (v 2.01, 2.02 and 2.03) will be disabled. To enable this option, you need to install TurboCASH 3.70 and convert your Set of Books. Once the Set of Books is converted, you need to uninstall TurboCASH 3.70 and install TurboCASH 3.74.

TurboCASH 3.7 will read the data on the previous versions 2.01, 2.02 and 2.03 and TurboCASH 2000. The system will automatically convert your data files of your previous TurboCASH version to this TurboCASH version. Custom or user reports, repeating batches and repeating invoices will be lost and need to be set up again.

To convert your TurboCASH data:
Click on the File - Create Set of Books menu option or press the key on your keyboard.



The Creation Wizard screen will display the 5 options to create a Set of Books.


Select the Convert from an older TurboCASH (v 2.01, 2.02, 2.03) option.

If this option is not activated, you need to install an earlier version of TurboCASH 3.7 and re-install this version of TurboCASH once your Set of Books has been converted successfully.

Click on the button. The following screen of the Creation Wizard will be displayed.


Select the old set of books from the list you wish to convert.
Click on the button. The following Creation Wizard screen will be displayed:


Enter the name for your Set of Books you wish to convert your old data to. This may be the same name as used in your previous version of TurboCASH. The name must not already exist and may not be longer than 15 characters. This name will help you to identify your set of books on your system and you will need to select this name, whenever you need to open the Set of Books or perform some other functions on the Set of Books.

The Directory in which you will convert the Set of Books are displayed underneath the Location Browse button. It will usually be the default directory in which TurboCASH is installed (TCASH3) or other directory than TCASH3, which you have specified when you have installed TurboCASH. If you wish to create your Set of Books in any other directory or location on your system, you may click on the button to select any Folder or Drive on the Pick a Directory screen.
Click on the button and the data will be converted into the new TurboCASH format. This process will not change your original data, but will merely create a copy in the new directory, which you have specified.

The conversion process will take a while. A progress indicator will show how far the conversion process has run. It is not uncommon for the conversion process to take as much as half an hour. It is not advisable to use the computer for other tasks while the conversion process is running. When the process is finished, the following screen will be displayed:


Click on the button.
Open the Converted Set of Books. It is recommended that you spend some time to check all your settings and compare some reports, before starting to enter your transactions in your converted set of books.

The following table gives you some guidelines to some aspects.

File - Open Set of Books	Select the name of the Set of Books you have converted.
Tools - Data Integrity Check	Running this will uncover any errors in the conversion process and unnoticed errors, which may have occurred in earlier versions of TurboCASH. The sooner the errors are dealt with, the better.
Setup - System Parameters - Access Control - Batch Type - Company Information - Documents	All users and security options All Batch Types are present Information and Tax Method and other settings Document numbers and Batches and Paper Type. Quotes and Orders are new in TurboCASH T3. If you wish to implement these facilities you need to set the last document numbers and messages.
- Groups - Financial Categories - Reporting Dates - Salesperson - Statements - Stock Information	Accounts, Debtors, Creditors, Stock and Documents Assets, Capital, Expenses, Income and Liabilities Number Periods and start of Financial Year Names of Salespersons Paper Type and Statement Message Units, Selling Prices, Average Cost or Latest Cost, Cost of Sales Account
- Reports	Check all reports and match them with your reports obtained from your old system, prior to conversion. Check Trial Balance, Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Code Files, Creditors, Debtors, Stock, Detailed Transactions, Sales Analysis, etc. NOTE: While we have made all efforts to ensure the smooth conversion, there are many combinations of data. Only a careful look at the converted data can ensure that it is correct. Please inform Pink Software (Pty) Ltd of all errors that you may find.
Input - Batch Entry F2	Check all settings. Contra Account / Contra Account per Line / Increment Reference Number / Inclusive mode / Consolidate Balancing / Repeat Details Allow only Debit or Credit or both amounts entry.
Setup – Internet	A number of Internet features have been introduced. More are planned for the future. Available in this release is the ability to e-mail reports and documents directly out of TurboCASH. If your computer is already configured to use the Internet, and you are going to use e-mail in TurboCASH, then you need to set up the e-mail part in the Setup - System Parameters - Internet menu. Web Servers can be ignored for now, but will be made available in later releases. If you have used Repeating Entries or User Reports in your previous version of TurboCASH, you need to:

1. Enter your Repeating Entries in the Edit - Repeating Entries menu option.
   
   
2. Create your User Reports in the Edit - User Reports menu option.

You may also need to check your set up preferences (backup path, fonts, printer, data parameters and define labels for debtors, creditors and stock items, if you are trading in stock items.

If you need to print documents (invoices, credit notes, purchases and goods returns), you may print these documents in this version of TurboCASH if the documents were generated on this version. Any older documents, which were generated on the previous version of TurboCASH, must be printed from that program.
